Service Description
This scan is suitable from 24 weeks of pregnancy. ● Growth assessment and Estimated Fetal Weight: Measures your baby to ensure they are growing as expected and provides an estimated weight of your baby. ● Liquor Volume: Measures the amount of water around your baby ● Umbilical Artery Dopplers: Assesses the blood flow within the umbilical cord to ensure the placenta is functioning as expected ● Baby’s position and presentation: Determines how baby is positioned within the womb and if they are in a head down position ● Placenta: Assesses the location of the placenta and if it is clear of the cervix ● Images and Report: You will receive black and white scan prints and a scan report. The scan will take measurements of your baby’s head circumference, abdominal circumference and femur length to ensure they are growing as expected. These measurements are used to provide an estimated weight of your baby, which can be plotted by you or your midwife onto your growth chart within your pregnancy notes. Measurements will also be taken of the amount of water around your baby and the blood flow within your baby’s cord. Following the scan, you will receive black and white scan prints and a scan report. You do not require a full bladder for this scan, but please note that if needed the toilet is upstairs within the building.
